หลวงปู่คำบุเกิด ณ บ้านกุดชมภู เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 15 กุมภาพันธ์ 2465 ตรงกับวันจันทร์ขึ้น 15 ค่ำ เดือน 3 ปีจอ เกิดในตระกูล คำงาม โยมบิดา-มารดา ชื่อนายสาและนางหอม คำงาม ครอบครัวทำนาทำสวน มีชื่อ-นามสกุลเดิมว่า คำบุ คำงาม ท่านเป็นบุตรคนสุดท้องในจำนวนพี่น้องทั้งหมด 6 คน บิดามารดาให้บรรพชาในปี พ.ศ.2482 ณ วัดกุดชมภู โดยมี พระครูญาณวิสุทธิคุณ (กอง) วัดตากโพธิ์ เป็นพระอุปัชฌาย์ ภายหลังบวชท่านได้มีโอกาสเดินทางไปกราบไหว้ พระครูวิโรจน์รัตโนมล (หลวงปู่รอด นันตโร) วัดทุ่งศรีเมือง เจ้าคณะจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี และได้รับความเมตตาโอบอ้อมอารีจากหลวงปู่รอดเป็นอย่างยิ่ง โดยได้ถ่ายทอดวิทยาคมต่างๆ ที่ได้ร่ำเรียนมาแก่สามเณรคำบุตั้งแต่นั้นเรื่อยมา จวบจนถึงวัยอุปสมบทเป็นพระภิกษุ จึงอุปสมบทเมื่อปี พ.ศ.2486 ได้รับฉายาว่า "คุตตจิตโต" มีพระครูสาธุธรรมจารี (สา) วัดดอนจิก เป็นพระอุปัชฌาย์
ครั้นบวชเป็นพระแล้ว หลวงปู่คำบุท่านยังคงแวะเวียนไปร่ำเรียนสรรพวิชาเวทมนตร์คาถาอาคมต่างๆจนมีความชำนาญแตกฉาน จึงออกเดินธุดงค์เพื่อแสวงหาครูบาอาจารย์ หลวงปู่คำบุได้มีโอกาสร่ำเรียนวิชา วิปัสสนากรรมฐาน และวิทยาคมจากพระอาจารย์ที่มีความชำนาญ ด้านพระคาถาต่างๆหลายรูปจนวิชาแกร่งกล้า และเป็นที่เลื่อมใสศรัทธาต่อ ญาติโยมจากทั่วสารทิศ โดยระยะหลังหลวงปู่อาพาธด้วยโรคชรา มรณภาพด้วยอาการสงบ สิริอายุได้ 91 ปี.
Luang Pu Khambu was born at Ban Kut Chom Phu on Monday, February 15, 1922, on the Monday of the 15th waxing moon of the 3rd lunar month. Born in the Kham Ngam family, the father and mother. Names: Nai Sa and Mrs Hom Khamngam, a family farming and gardening. He was the youngest of 6 siblings. His parents gave him ordination in the year 1939 at Kudchomphu Temple with Phra Kru Yan Wisutthikhun (Kong) Wat Tak Pho. a preceptor After the ordination, he had the opportunity to travel to pay respect. Phrakhru Wirot Ratnomol (Luang Pu Rod Nantharo) Thung Si Muang Temple Priest of Ubon Ratchathani Province and received great kindness from Luang Pu Rod. by transmitting various sciences who have studied to the novice Khambu ever since until the age of ordination as a monk Therefore, he was ordained in 1943 and was given the nickname "Kutta Chitto". Phrakhru Sathu Thammajari (Sa) of Wat Don Chik was a preceptor.
After being ordained as a monk Reverend Grandfather Khambu still frequented him to study all kinds of magic and witchcraft skills until he became proficient. So he went on a pilgrimage to find a teacher. Luang Pu Khambu had the opportunity to study the subject. Vipassana Meditation and knowledge from a teacher who has expertise As for many different spells until the subject is strong and is devoted to Relatives from all over the country Lately, Luang Pu got sick with old age. Died peacefully at the age of 91 years.
