Oriental antique silk hand-painted folding hand fan with box

Description

This is an original antique oriental hand fan from the late 19th (or very early 20th) century.  It is made primarily of a smooth white material, possibly bone or ivory, definitely pre-plastics.  It is of hand painted silk, with a floral theme.  It is 10 1/2 inches from base to tip when closed, and, when opened, spans a minimum of 14 inches. (I am reluctant to open it fully as I don't wish to damage it.). Suitable for framing, the fan is two sided.  The unpainted side has a 2 slits in the silk along the ribs(they are shown in the photos), but these are not visible from the painted side, as the interior and exterior leafs are different.  The guards are both in good shape, and all other parts are intact.
