    Description

In April 1962, John Glenn was presented with the Hubbard Medal by Vice President Johnson on behalf of the National Geographic Society. The Hubbard Medal is the highest award presented by NGS and was awarded to John Glenn for the Mercury Mission. This is an original invitation to the black tie event, held in Washington DC.
    Background of the item:
My great aunt worked for NGS for over 40 years and kept many “souvenirs” of her time spent with National Geographic. Just about everything was kept in pristine condition, protected, with a note attached.
The physical state of the items:
Invitation measures 7” x 5” and is printed on quality card stock with a raised embossed NGS symbol. The corners are crisp.
The accompanying instruction card is 6” x 3”.
Also included will be a copy of “Astronaut John H. Glenn Orbits the Earth for America”
This item is a must have for any space collector. It is perfect for framing and displaying. There were limited invitations sent for this event and it is unclear how many survived in this condition.
This item will be shipped via USPS for free.
