LOT OF FIVE (5) VINTAGE 8" x 10" PHOTOGRAPHS OF U.S. PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY ATTENDING & WATCHING MERCURY 7 NASA ASTRONAUT JOHN GLENN'S LAUNCH INTO SPACE ON FEBRUARY 20, 1962 AT CAPE CANAVRAL & INCLUDES TWO (2) PHOTOS OF THE MERCURY 7 TEAM IN A PRE-LAUNCH PROGRAM SEMINAR IN A JUNGLE SIMULATION - ALL APPARENTLY UNPUBLISHED PHOTOS
In 1959, John Glenn was selected as a Project Mercury astronaut.
On Feb. 20, 1962, Glenn blasted into space aboard Mercury's Friendship 7 capsule, then traveled around the planet three times, becoming the first American to orbit the Earth. President KENNEDY flew down to CAPE CANVARAL on that day and here we see the PRESIDENT watching the MERCURY program's Mercury - Redstone rocket as it took off, and then we see TWO (2) shots of PRESIDENT KENNEDY getting back into his limousine.
A total of THREE (3) shots pertain to KENNEDY and then there are TWO (2) shots that show the NASA MERCURY 7 team training
at a jungle simulation seminar in 1961.

original VINTAGE 8" x10" positive photographic prints SINGLE WEIGHT GLOSS FINISH PAPER. with the exception of TWO, with (1) which is a 'jungle' view on on DOUBLE WEIGHT MATTE FINISH and an other 'jungle' view on SINGLE WEIGHT SEMI GLOSS.

A VERY VERY IMPORTANT & HISTORIC LOT.
UNFORTUNATELY - THERE WERE NO NEGATIVES FOUND FOR THE KENNEDY IMAGES.  The TWO (2) images of the MERCURY 7 TEAM at the jungle seminar came with 2 1/4" sq. negatives and are currently being sold in separate lots on eBay just preceding this auction offering.
