หุ่นพยนต์ ยุคต้น ในการสร้างหุ่นพยนต์ในยุคนี้นั้น. ท่านอาจารย์ลอย ได้พยายามรังสรร. สร้างหุ่นพยนต์ ด้วยงานศิลป์ที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัว. โดยท่านได้สร้างหุ่นให้มีรูปร่างลักษณะท่าทางให้เหมือนกับคน  มีแขน มีขา ลำตัว ซึ่งจะต่างกับหุ่นยุคแรกที่เป็นเพียงการมัดก้านลานม้วนเป็นปมเท่านั้น.
หุ่นยุคนี้ เส้นก้านลานจะค่อนข้างใหญ่ การรีดเส้นก้านลานมักจะไม่ละเอียด บางเส้นเป็นเหลี่ยม. แต่ก็ยังคงเป็นเอกลักษณ์ไว้  เส้นก้านลานส่วนใหญ่มักจะมีสีคล้ำ  แต่เส้นจะไม่ค่อยแตก. การสานหัว. ยุคนี้มักจะเป็นทรงหัวกับลำตัวชลูด. หัวค่อนข้างใหญ่ มีช่วงเว้าที่คอเล็กน้อยไม่ชัดเจน    เพียงแค่จะใช้ช่วงแขนมาแบ่งให้เห็นว่าช่วงนี้คือหัว ช่วงนี้คือตัว. การขึ้นหัวยุคนี้ค่อนข้างแน่น (พูดง่ายๆหัวหุ่นยุคนี้มักจะไม่ค่อยระเบิด คือมักไม่หลุดลุ่ย) การจัดท่าทางมักจะยกแขนขึ้นมาปิดหน้า. ที่สำคัญ คือ ยุคนี้มักจะปล่อยมือให้ยาวให้เสมือนหุ่นถือดาบ   ส่วนขาก็จะจัดให้ ขาไขว้กัน อยู่ในท่านั่งสมาธิ.  ไม่มีการพันด้ายที่ตัวเป็นเสื้อกางเกง มักจะปล่อยเปลือยๆ. จะมีบ้างก็แค่มัดปลายแขนปลายขา หรือบางตัวก็อาจจะพันด้ายแค่เป็นกางเกงเท่านั้น. ส่วนสีด้ายที่ใช้พัน มักเป็นสีล้วน ไม่มีหลายสีเหมือนในยุคต่อมา
หุ่นยุคต้น ถือได้ว่า. ท่านอาจารย์ลอย ได้จัดให้มีความเป็นมาตรฐาน และเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของท่านมากที่สุด จนมีการเอาหุ่นในยุคนี้มาจัดเป็นเกณฑ์มาตรฐาน. ดังคำที่กล่าวว่า "หัวหมุด คอเว้า สามเสาหน้าหลัง แขนขายาว เท้าขัดโพธิ์

อาจารย์ ลอย โพธิ์เงิน(หมอลอย) พื้นเพท่านเป็นคนภูมิลำเนาอยุธยา โดยกำเนิด วัยเด็กเคยได้บวชเรียนตั้งแต่ครั้นเป็น สามเณร อยู่กับ หลวงพ่อแป้น ณ วัดเสาธงใหม่ ต.เสาธง อ.บางปะหัน จ.พระนครศรีอยุธยา และกาลต่อมาได้บรรพชาเป็นพระภิกษุในบวรพุทธศาสนา ที่วัดพนัญเชิงวรวิหาร  ท่านได้รับการสอนอบรมศึกษาเป็นผู้มีวิชาความรู้ ตลอดจนวิชาไสยเวทย์ และการรักษาโรค อีกทั้งมีความชำนาญและมีฝีมือในเชิงชั้นชั้นบรมครู ไม่ว่าจะเป็นงานสาน งานแกะสลัก งานปั้น งานแทงหยวก ชนิดที่หาตัวจับได้ยาก
ตัวผู้เขียนเคยได้เห็น และเปิดดูตำราที่ตกทอดมาจากท่านอาจารย์ลอย ซึ่งมาถึงท่านอาจารย์ปี่(สมาน แจ้งเจริญ)ศิษย์รักศิษย์แสบ เด็กเฝ้าแพที่อยู่ปรนนิบัติท่านมานานนับสิบๆปี ซึ่งน่าจะนานที่สุดนั้น
พบว่า ในตำรานอกจากที่ท่าน อาจารย์ลอยคัดลอกมาจากหลวงพ่อแป้นนั้น มีวิชาของหลวงพ่อเกจิดังยุคเก่าของเมืองอยุธยาหลายๆสำนัก รวมกันอยู่ ท่านเขียนบอกไว้บ้างบางวิชา แต่ขออนุญาตไม่กล่าวถึงว่ามีของสายสำนักสายวิชาใดบ้าง
ความจากคนเฒ่าคนแก่ ที่อยู่แถวละแวกนั้น ต่างบอกกันว่า ท่านเป็นที่รักและเคารพของคนละแวกนั้นมากๆ ถึงจะพูดน้อย ดูขึงขัง แต่ก็มีความเมตตาสูง มักช่วยเหลือผู้ที่ป่วย หรือผู้ลำบากโดยไม่คิดถึงผลตอบแทน อีกทั้งยังเจริญด้วยการทะนุบำรุงบวรพุทธศาสนามิได้ขาด
