Inner Balance Bluetooth uses BT4.0 (BLE–Bluetooth Low Energy) which works at an output power range of 0.5 milliwatts (mW) or less — this is significantly lower than mobile phones which typically have output levels between 250 mW and 2000 mW. The tiny Bluetooth emitter is in the module that attaches to your garment, not in the ear sensor. Inner Balance Bluetooth is compliant with applicable FCC tests.

What is the Inner Balance app?
The Inner Balance™ app takes the information from the Inner Balance pulse sensor and translates it into real-time feedback on your Heart Rate Variability (HRV). In the App, you can also track results, and utilize the library of guided Techniques and Exercises. It is an innovative approach to improving wellness through training, education and self-monitoring. The app helps you track your progress in the journey of learning how to manage stress, shift your moods and create a more positive outlook on life.
Bluetooth, Lightning, or USB-C?
Most people choose our Inner Balance Bluetooth sensor because it works wirelessly with both Android and iOS mobile phones and tablets. We have wired solutions for iOs (Lightning) and Android (USB-C)
What's the difference between the Inner Balance and the emWave2?
Both products use the same Coherence measurement algorithm. The Inner Balance is designed for mobile phones and tablets. The emWave2 is a stand-alone device that operates without a mobile phone or computer.
What is the difference between Inner Balance and the emWave Pro?
Both products use the same Coherence measurement algorithm. The Inner Balance is designed for mobile phones and tablets. The emWave Pro is designed to work with desktop computers and allows you to create multiple user profiles and track the progress of each individually, which is a feature that health professionals use. The emWave Pro+ includes the ability to do HRV Assessments which is a feature typically only used by Health Professionals and Researchers.
Is there training available on how to use my Inner Balance™ optimally?

Can I use Inner Balance on my tablet devices?
Yes – our Inner Balance Bluetooth connects to iOS and Android mobile phones and tablets. Lightning is our wired version for iOS devices with a Lightning connector and USB-C is our solution for Android devices with a USB-C connector.
How long and how often do I need to practice?
We recommend using the Inner Balance for 10 minutes a day for 6 weeks to reset your baseline response to stress. The Inner Balance is also designed to train you how to get into coherence without the App so that you can do this at any time during the day.
How do I see my results from the Inner Balance™ sensor?
Once you have the Inner Balance™ sensor, download the Inner Balance app, pair your sensor with the app and start a session to see your real-time feedback within moments.
What should I feel? Or What does coherence feel like?
Coherence is a state of internal synchronization between the heart and the brain. Often, people experience coherence as a sense of inner calm and balance, an increased focus, while others experience coherence as a more composed state.
How long does it take for me to see or feel results?
HeartMath Techniques and the Inner Balance are designed to help you shift your emotional state in the moment. You will likely feel better after your very first session. With regular practice, you will start to reset your baseline response to stress which will leave you with more energy throughout the day. You should start to see this type of impact after using the Inner Balance for 6 weeks.
Do I have to wear the ear sensor all of the time?
No, only when you are running a live session.
Do I need the Inner Balance App to learn and use HeartMath?
No – but it helps! HeartMath Techniques are easy to learn and use. We encourage everyone to use these techniques throughout their day. The Inner Balance provides you with real-time Coherence scoring so that you can understand what Coherence feels like and learn how to become more and more coherent. The higher the score, the more coherent you are. You might want to check out The HeartMath Experience to learn the techniques.
Do I need the Inner Balance sensor to use the Inner Balance App?
Yes – the Inner Balance pulse sensor measures your Heart Rate Variability and sends this information to the Inner Balance app where it is translated into your real-time HRV Coherence score.

No – our best-in-class pulse sensor has been designed specifically to optimize your experience with the Inner Balance app.
Can I use the camera on the back of my phone as a pulse sensor?
No – the Inner Balance pulse sensor measures your pulse 125 times a second to provide accurate HRV and Coherence information.

Does the Inner Balance App save my sessions? Can I delete sessions?
Your sessions will be automatically saved to your HeartCloud account so you can easily track your progress and return to past sessions to add notes in your journal. You can also delete sessions.
Can I share my sessions with my friends?
Absolutely! You can share aspects of your session, but not all of the session data. You choose what data to share.
Is there a user manual available?
This Inner Balance manual is for Android 5 or greater and iOS 9 or greater. Product Manual iOS: This manual is designed for iOS 7 or iOS 8.2 using the Lightning connector. Product Manual We also have a manual for older devices that are running iOS 6 using a 30 pin sensor. Product Manual
Do you have a finger sensor that will work for the mobile app?
No, the finger sensor is not designed to work with the Inner Balance app. The power requirements for the finger sensor prevents an accurate acquisition of HRV data.
