    The Phra Somdej amulet is probably the most popukar amulet in Thailand. It has been created by countless monks ever since the first Somdej amulet, Somdej Orahang or Ong Tee Neung, was consecrated by Acting Supreme Patriart of Thailand, Phra Sankaraj Suk from Wat Mahathat in BE 2360-2363. It was this amulet that formed the template for the later and possibly greatest Somdej amulets of all time created by Somdej Phra Buddhacharn (Somdej Toh) from Wat Rakhang and Wat Bangkhunprom.     Somdej Toh
    (1788-1872; B.E. 2331-2415)
    Somdej Pra Bhuddhachara Toh was the most famous and revered monk of the nineteenth century.
    He was born was born on the 17th April, B.E.2331, possibly the son of King Rama I.
    His family moved from Utradit province to Ayudhaya where at the age of 12 he was sent to
    Wat Intra Viharn to be ordained as a novice monk.
    He was educated by Phra Boworn Virivanen, the then Abbot of Wat Banglumpoo
    He was eventually to move to Wat Rakhang where he studied the Buddhist scriptures of the Pali cabon
    with several masters including Somdej Pra Buddha Kosacharm.
    His dedication was duly noted by the then crown prince who presented him with a small gift of a little boat.
    After becoming a well-known monk, he became the preceptor for Prince Mongkut, later King Rama IV,
    when Mongkut became a monk. During Rama IV's reign Somdej Toh was given the ceremonial name
    " Phra Buddhacharn Toh Phromarangsi ".
    He was noted for the skill of his preaching and his use of Thai Poetry to reflect the beauty of Buddhism,
    and of course for making the now famous Somdej amulet.
    Ranks of Somdej Phra Buddhachan Toh
    1. In B.E.2395, aged 65, he was appointed by King Rama IV as “Pra Dharma Kitti”.
    2. In B.E.2397, he was promoted to be “Pra Thepkravi”.
    3. In B.E.2407, he was appointed as “Somdej Phra Buddhachan”, his highest rank, after the old Somdej Pra Buddhachan named “Soen”,
    who was the abbot of Wat Srakes, had passed away.
    Somdej Toh was believed to have created 84,000 Phra Somdej as a symbol for the continuity of the Buddhist religion.
    He also commissioned the creation of the famous Phra Somdej Keschaiyo at Wat Ketchaiyo Woraviharn
    Creation of Phra Somdej

    A total of 84,000 pieces were created. The entire production process was overseen by Somdej Phra Buddhacharn Toh himself.

    All amulets were created with his sacred power and mercy. Apart from reminding all worshippers of Lord Buddha’s virtue,
    the amulets also helped protect from dangers, evil and bad spiritual influences.
    He is also known to have made or been involved in the creation of many other amulets and many of these pims
    are still affordable for example amulets from Wat Lingkob and Wat Khun In etc.
    Phra Somdej
    Wat Rakang
    was originally made and consecrated by
    Somdej Buddhajarn (Toh Promrangsi)
    who made them specially with various holy mixtures:- holy Buddha relics, holy woods, several kind of pollens and amulets
    that he collected from different places during his pilgrimage. Phra Somdej became popular and well known to people
    when
    Phra Somdej Pee-Raka
    showed the legend of miracle curing Asiatic cholera that spread in his time.
    Phra Somdej amulet was first to be made by artisans from the royal court and given away to the people and
    the rest has kept into the main Chedi and in the monastery ceiling at Wat Rakang.
    Somdej Buddhajarn born in the royal family and he was very closed relative to the king,
    his intelligence could helped the king managed to avoid colonialization from foreigners.
    He also discovered ‘Chinna Bunchorn’ incantation that can be use for praying in the ceremony of making
    Phra Somdej Wat Rakang. Phra Somdej Wat Rakang is the best amulet in top five of Benjaphakee set.

    Phra Somdej
    Phra Somdej were created by Somdej Phra BuddhaJahn Toh Prommarangsri (Somdej Toh). He's a son of

    Shell lime, holy powder, assorted flowers from shine, rice, lotus, ashes, honey, banana, tang oil, etc. Then chanted with spells and meditate.

    Phra Somdej Wat Rakhang is once
    of the most famous and the best amulets from Thailand.
    Phra Nang Phaya
    Phra Nang Phaya were created during of Ayuttaya era, Pitsanulok province. The major discovered are from Wat Nang Phaya around B.E.2444.
    The temple was said to be built for merits making to his Queen, the mother of King Naresuan, the Thai people given name "Queen of Thailand amulets".

    Phra Rod
    Phra Rod was created by a hermit. First discovered during the earlier days of King Rama 5 reign when a pagoda from Wat Mahawan in Lumpoon province.

    dangers and disasters or misfortunes. They are made of clay and the oldest once are over 1,250 years old.
    Phra Phong Supan
    Phra Phong Supan were discovered on B.E. 2456 in Wat Phra Sri Ratanamahathat, Supan Buri province.
    According to a golden scripture found together in the pagoda which described that Phra Phong Supan was created by
    Phra Mahathera PiyaThassi Saribut during the period of King Bormrajathiraj 2nd. It has strong
    "U-thong" art style. Most of unique of this amulets is at the back had a thumb print of the creator.

    Phra Somgor
    Phra Somgor were first discovered on B.E. 2392 in Wat Phra Boromathat. Gumpangpeth province.
    The amulets were created in the era King Phra Maha Dharmarajalitai, the 5th king of Sukhothai.
    Phra Somgor is a mixture of Sukhothai-Lanka (Sri Lanka) style. It form a sitting posture of a thumb shape.
    According to memorandum of Wat Phra Boromathat, Phra Somgor amulets were made by 11 hermits or Phra Lersi using special materials
    and invited Devadas to create the molds.
    There is a slogan for Phra Somgor " If you have me, you never get poor". Estimated to be made some
    550 years.
    Phra Kring
    Phra Kring by Phra Sangkharaj or Supreme Patriarch of Thailand named Somdej Phra Sangkharaj Pae
    Tissa-dheva-maha-dhera, who had begun to create this kind of amulet since the year B.E.2441.
    Phra Kring amulet is an image of Lord Buddha parng chana-marn with holy bell inside.

    Phra Pitda
